ProFuturo brings together experts from seven African and Asian countries in Madrid in a hub for trainers

The aim of this initiative, which will hopefully be upheld through time, is to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to lead the programme in the field in the coming months.

From 17 to 24 July, several ProFuturo coaches and project managers from Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Tanzania and Lebanon met in Madrid for a trainers’ hub. The purpose of their visit was to receive intensive training on specific topics, such as the new ProFuturo platform or the ProFuturo Mathematics tool. The strategy combined both face-to-face and online sessions to provide them with all the necessary resources.

Many of the participants have grown professionally within ProFuturo. Therefore, the aim of this initiative, which will hopefully be upheld through time, is to provide them with the knowledge and skills they need to lead the programme in the field in the upcoming months, thus awarding profiles as specific as theirs with the place they deserve.

Some of them have been trained in international organisations, which has allowed them to acquire a global perspective with which to enrich local strategies in their respective countries, adapting their methodology to different needs. Others have strong expertise in knowledge management, enabling them to optimise resource management according to the environment. In addition, several participants combine project administrative responsibilities or technical support functions with working directly with schools.

To enrich their experiences on the ground, the intention is for each expert to deliver the training in their country with the help and support of another hub member of a different nationality, a formula designed to jointly address the potential challenges involved in implementing the programme in different contexts.

In addition, the training week was an opportunity to share real-life situations in the different countries of origin of the seven experts, to exchange ideas, to hold discussions and to work as a team. It was an opportunity to show their commitment to ProFuturo’s mission and to highlight their work to narrow the education gap in vulnerable contexts.
