On 14 July 2016, César Alierta, at that time President of Telefónica Foundation, and Isidro Fainé, President of “la Caixa” Foundation, signed an alliance for the joint development of ProFuturo. The objective of the programme: promoting equality of opportunities through quality and equitable education using digital tools. The ProFuturo Foundation is a private, non-profit cultural foundation with a permanent nature, which has full legal personality, full legal capacity, and the capacity to act.

The Code of Good Corporate Governance of the ProFuturo Foundation was approved by the Board of Trustees on 31 May 2017. It includes the main national and international recommendations on the subject of good governance of non-profit organisations and on the principles of social responsibility of a foundation.
