ProFuturo Foundation and American Tower, a leading provider of telecommunications infrastructure, have announced a partnership to boost digital learning in Nigeria. The collaboration will also include the Kukah Centre, a policy research institute based in Nigeria that works to promote active and engaged citizenship. The alliance will involve the distribution of kits, each containing a computer, tablets, a router, a projector, and other essential components, aimed at enhancing digital access and learning opportunities for students.
The initiative and the agreement between ATC Nigeria and the ProFuturo Foundation underscore both organizations’ commitment to addressing the digital education gap. Their goal is to deepen the understanding of vulnerable school contexts in order to more effectively promote innovative teaching practices and strengthen the digital transformation of education.
Magdalena Brier, CEO of the ProFuturo Foundation, welcomed the agreement as a reinforcement of both entities’ commitment to fighting the digital and educational divide. «The alliance between the ProFuturo Foundation and American Tower is a major step toward improving educational opportunities for the most vulnerable. We are deeply honored by their support for the work we’ve been doing since 2016, and I constantly think of each and every teacher, boy, and girl who will benefit—because together we will help transform their lives».
Pieter Van Der Westhuizen, CEO of ATC Nigeria, praised the initiative and stated: «At ATC Nigeria, we are proud to support this impactful collaboration that brings digital tools directly into classrooms. Through our partnership with the ProFuturo Foundation, our Digital Communities program is expanding access to technology and equipping the next generation with the skills they need to thrive in a digital world».
Initially focused on 11 schools across three states—Kano, Kebbi, and Taraba—the alliance is expected to directly benefit over 5,600 children and 34 teachers, even in areas with limited connectivity. By equipping schools with these kits, the initiative aims to reduce educational disparities caused by the digital divide. The kits are designed to enrich the learning experience, support interactive teaching methods, and provide students with access to a wide array of digital educational content.
