In December 2023, American Tower Corporation (ATC) and the ProFuturo Foundation (PF) signed an agreement to collaborate in numerous schools across Latin America and Africa. Since then, this collaboration has expanded from an initial goal of 44 schools to an impressive 50 educational centers in Chile, Colombia, and Kenya, positively impacting over 14,000 students and more than 600 teachers up until 2024. These figures alone speak volumes, but the true impact lies in how this initiative has transformed classrooms, empowered teachers, and ignited a passion for learning in communities that faced technological limitations.
In Chile, schools that previously had limited or fragmented access to digital tools now benefit from complete, functional sets of equipment—thanks to ATC’s donation and ProFuturo’s support. More than 1,288 students have benefited from the program. Teachers not only integrated digital platforms like ProFuturo Mathematics into their lesson plans but also used them to identify learning gaps and provide personalized reinforcement.
In Colombia, where the existing infrastructure was insufficient to meet student needs, schools now have the tools to reimagine their teaching strategies. In total, 181 teachers actively used the ProFuturo platform—exceeding targets—and 5,575 students benefited from interactive and inclusive digital learning experiences. Many teachers took ownership of their digital training, with dozens independently creating and managing their own classes.

On the other hand, in Kenya, the alliance reached a different kind of milestone. Following the delivery of equipment to six additional schools in September 2024, the program saw a remarkable increase in platform usage. From the previous quarter to the end of the year, the number of teachers using the platform jumped from 170 to 383, while student participation more than doubled, from 2,509 to 7,173 students. Beyond the numbers, what stood out was the commitment from educators and school leaders, who actively integrated digital tools into the curriculum, even during the holiday period.
BEST PRACTICES
- Proactive accompaniment provided by coaches, including both in-person and virtual visits to offer guidance, address challenges, and ensure proper use of resources. The role of the coach has been key to consolidating the integration of technology in the classroom, strengthening both the pedagogical skills of teachers and the leadership of facilitators.
- Having laptops for teachers so they can prepare lessons, research, and access online teaching materials. This also motivates teachers’ flexibility and enthusiasm in integrating digital tools into their daily routines.
- The headteachers have demonstrated a high level of commitment, promoting effective communication with teachers and coaches, motivating the use of the equipment and participation in training.
A SUCCESS THAT GOES BEYOND THE NUMBERS
Across all three countries, the power of this partnership is evident—not only in usage statistics but in attitudes and outcomes. According to ProFuturo’s annual survey, 98% of teachers believe that technology improves learning, and 92% noticed a significant increase in student motivation since using the platform. Additionally, 85% of educators reported an improvement in their own digital skills thanks to the training and support provided through the program.
The success of this initiative goes beyond numbers. It is about teachers who feel empowered, students who are eager to learn, and communities that begin to see education as a door to possibility. It is also proof to what happens when two organizations come together with a shared vision and a complementary set of strengths —one providing infrastructure, the other providing purpose— built digital content and support.
