Rodrigo Rodriguez, CEO of Odilo, begins by highlighting how crucial it is to encourage young people to satisfy their preferences and tastes when it comes to matters related to literacy. Odilo’s proposal aims, through technology and services, to help create reading habits in learners, turning them into avid and proactive readers. Improving reading comprehension is one of the main objectives of the project, which are achieved by designing technology adapted to modern times, to how students communicate nowadays, and taking advantage of the new digital scenarios in which, they usually spend part of their leisure time. In short, we support the creation of a digital reading ecosystem that adapts to the characteristics and needs of the new generations.

Odilo’s digital libraries provide access to an infinite number of reading and writing opportunities and experiences, allowing the student to decide freely how to use them. In addition, they work with data that favour the recommendation and personalization of the intervention according to the characteristics and interactions of each individual, as well as the level of reading comprehension that they are demonstrating. Moreover, the tool is designed so that teachers can carry out a complete monitoring and accompaniment of their students’ reading and writing experience, and provides information and access to families to support them in the development of this competence.
Rodrigo points out that Odilo is making a positive impact globally. Millions of users currently use this digital library both in the U.S. and in Latin America. We are managing to increase the number of readings done as well as to improve in all the reading comprehension indexes. In addition, teachers are creating hundreds of reading clubs and reading plans in each region, helping to further adapt the tool to the teaching praxis, discovering new ways of approaching the use of this digital reading and writing experience.
