Innovating in the classroom

In this category you will find courses with active methodologies to create learning experiences while introducing innovation in the classroom. They are designed for teachers seeking to place the student at the centre of the teaching-learning process:

The aim of this course is to work on basic knowledge to develop INNOVATION as a fundamental skill that favours student’s personal and professional success. The aim of this course is to work on ICT competence through the knowledge of on-line applications that facilitate teaching and the application of ICT at school.

This course aims to promote INNOVATION as a primordial skill for implementing a quality teaching-learning model. Teachers who do this unit will come from basic level training or the diagnostic test will have shown that they know innovative educational experiences.

The aim of this course is to work on INNOVATION as a skill for transforming the educational system. Teachers doing this unit will have done basic and intermediate level training on Mobile Learning and will be familiar with the use of educational experiences in the educational surroundings, or will have passed the diagnostic test placing them at this level.

The professional level will discuss innovation and analyse what has changed in pedagogical methodologies. It will begin with one of the most important changes in the teaching and learning processes of recent decades: the transition from an education based on transmitting information, to an education based on developing skills.

This will be a change towards an innovative school of three learning methodologies that aim to spark interest for this change to begin and that can be applied in the classroom.

It is an effective proposal for the development of key skills through a work flow proven in a wide range of contexts and different conditions. This course will study the work flow and design a project to allow us to turn this training experience into a memorable learning experience.

We will learn how we can implement this methodological tool in our classroom and it will give us a series of resources and practical tools to start out confidently. Modern society is changing at breakneck speed. The school aims to train people as citizens of the world. It must therefore provide them with sufficient tools to face the challenges that arise.

What is a school? A classroom with chairs or any place where you can learn? Questions like these are posed by the “Journey to the School of the 21st Century” project. A study made by Alfredo Hernando and published by Telefónica Foundation in its effort to support education.
The project detaches itself from traditional education to project new forms of education in which the place comes to the fore: each country is different and so education must be different too.

Do you want to make your classes more enjoyable? Would you like to introduce principles of gamification in your classroom but don’t know how? Do you want to design games that are of interest to your students?
Join this course to learn aspects such as the relationship between playing and learning, how to design a game in didactic terms, the different game elements, etc.

The aim of this course is to study the flipped classroom model, to analyse its possible application in Secondary Education and the benefits of its development, as well as the problems we might encounter in putting it into practice.
It is an eminently practical approach that provides those attending with the knowledge, resources and tools to immediately put this model into practice in the context of their own secondary classroom.

The possibilities we are offered by this type of games in education multiply, favour, enhance and bring forth teamwork and group cohesion; they allow feedback on acquired learnings, student’s digital skills, logical-mathematical reasoning and much more. You will also learn to design your own Escape game to take to your classrooms.

Using ICT

These courses are intended to help you discover how ICT can be a great ally in your daily practice. Learn to include them in your classes:

The aim of this course is to work on the basic knowledge to develop ICT competence, and more specifically to apply it in the classroom. Teachers who do this unit will have no or basic knowledge of digital literacy and the use of office automation as an educational resource.

The aim of this course is to work on ICT competence to effectively apply it in the classroom. Teachers doing this unit will have done the basic training or will be familiar with OpenOffice applications. At this level, teachers must be competent at user level in office automation and use ICT to create activities in the classroom.

The aim of this course is to work on ICT competence through the knowledge of on-line applications that facilitate teaching and the application of ICT at school. Teachers doing this unit will come from intermediate level training, and will be familiar with educational experiences based on collaborative learning. Here teachers must create and transfer educational experiences based on collaborative learning.

This route aims to reveal the diversity of options that virtual tools offer us in order to include them in our teaching work, and to support the teaching-learning process by applying the knowledge offered by Neurodidactics.

Part of a series of three courses that address the six main areas of competence needed to improve teaching practice in the digital age. This first course will focus on Information and Management and Communication and Collaboration.

This second course will focus on Content Creation and Innovation and Creativity.

This third course will focus on Safety and Evaluation, Quality and Improvement.

On this course, teachers will firstly develop instrumental, communicative and collaborative skills related to interaction, communication and collaboration in digital environments such as social networks and learning communities. And secondly, skills related to the use of technologies for the collective construction of resources, knowledge and content.

To continue learning

These courses show us how neurodidactics works, how to improve coexistence in the school and much more. They are training resources to understand how we learn in the digital age:

This training will deal with Bullying from the following perspective:

  1. Introduction to Bullying and awareness-raising (Prevention): Peer bullying, beliefs that sustain the phenomenon, tools for understanding the players involved (aggressor, victim, and bystanders).
  2. Emotional Education and Prevention of Violence: Prevention proposals (protective factors and the concept of “prevention”), assets of well-being and awareness-raising.
  3. Detection and classification: Review of characteristics and beliefs in school bullying to help in its detection. Indicators to consider.
  4. Action: Bullying PDA Protocol: What do we need in order to be prepared as a school? Wide-ranging performance. From the end of the attacks until healing.

Can you distinguish cyberbullying? We have created this course to provide you with a review and to expand the knowledge and resources for you to act against cyberbullying. We will focus on addressing and responding to this type of violence, always from a well-being asset approach that will help us understand everything as an opportunity for learning and personal and group development.

This course is for teachers interested in:

  1. Developing communication skills to allow them to work effectively and safely in different educational situations (lessons, tutorials and meetings)
  2. Learning to create a favourable classroom climate through cooperation, teamwork, and assertive communication.
  3. Acquiring educational skills to motivate students and facilitate learning.
  4. Encouraging students to communicate appropriately, to express their emotions and ideas, and to learn techniques to resolve potential conflicts.

The changes occurring in adolescence create insecurities and stress among adolescents. This course shows us why they occur and helps us teach them how to face them properly, so that we might avoid problems such as difficulty in adapting or certain disorders.
The course goals are: to understand the changes that adolescents experience; to provide them with the necessary resources to adapt to the changes; to recognise stressful situations and to develop strategies to help them cope; to promote mental health and prevent maladaptive behaviours, and, most importantly; to train adolescents in skills for a positive lifestyle.

This course is designed to reveal the most frequent learning and neurodevelopmental disorders in classrooms and which have the greatest impact on students’ academic development: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Specific Language Disorder (SLD) and Non-Verbal Learning Disorder (NVLD). It is intended to give you as much information as possible to allow you to detect their symptoms and difficulties in the classroom and to provide guidelines and strategies to favour their learning process.

Have you ever come across a child with learning difficulties in your classroom? Would you like to know what happens in a dyslexic child’s brain? Do you want to know how to work with such children? This course offers you the chance to see dyslexia from a neuropsychological point of view, identifying the characteristics, stages and essential difficulties of a child with dyslexia and the cognitive areas affected.

UNESCO considers principals’ training on management issues essential. In response to this need, the UNESCO Representation in Peru has developed this course content in a joint effort with the Association of Entrepreneurs for Education and the Management Training Unit (UCG) of the Peruvian Ministry of Education. This course seeks to provide principals with basic tools to facilitate their work in managing their respective educational institutions.

The course is aimed at teachers of any type and education, pedagogues or psycho-pedagogues, or those trained in any other professional activity related to the formal and informal educational area in all its academic fields. We will discover what neurodidactics is, how it arises and the framework in which it is inscribed; we will break down neuro-myths, we will see the neurobiological process of motivation and how it determines student learning.

Computational Thought and Robotics

These courses will help your students develop computational thinking and make them prosumers:

Do you want to be an innovative teacher and offer your students new ways of learning? On this course you will discover how you can use two of the most famous emerging technologies to design pedagogical strategies. By innovating using these technologies, you will not only manage to promote students’ interest, but also maximise their learning.

This course is the second part of the course “Robotics: Electronics”, so we will continue working on connectivity. This course emphasises connectivity practices, and specifically the advanced use of the serial port; how to make a crossed connection between two Arduino boards; what the transmission speed is; which is the RS232 standard to be able to make multiple connections. Finally, we talk about what a protocol is.

Introductory course to digital electronics using free tools. An introduction is given to a whole series of standard sensors and actuators, and a review of standard projects is made.

A course dedicated to giving an overview of existing technologies for education. The course teaches the basic concepts of programming and we will work with Scratch to help you carry out your projects. We will use different programming languages to develop applications with which to express ideas and make games and simulations.
