For some, the return to work gets off to a different start this September. During the next month, 28 Telefónica and “la Caixa” employees will participate in the first edition of ProFuturo’s volunteer project. Through the training and counselling of teachers and with the involvement of local authorities, volunteers will contribute to the implementation of the project in two schools in Peru and Nicaragua.

For this first experience, 14 volunteers from the two companies promoting ProFuturo, will travel to Mazamari, a small town situated in the Peruvian province of Junín, and will be actively integrated into the Educational Institution Aldea del Niño Beato Junípero Serra, which is attended by around 700 students. For two weeks they will work on providing training in using the WeClass tool, conducting workshops for teachers and helping the children in their interaction with the platform, as well as promoting cultural exchange and collaborating with tasks to improve infrastructures.

Then, during the second fortnight of September, another 14 volunteers will travel to Managua to join teachers of the Third Grade of La Purísima Torres school in Molina in the use of ProFuturo digital contents in the classroom.  They will take an active role in supplying technical and pedagogical advice which will benefit around 300 students, as well as collaborating in work to improve the infrastructure.

Volunteering in ProFuturo is an opportunity for Telefónica and “la Caixa” employees which will allow them to get to know the project first hand and in which they will be able to develop skills such as teamwork, the ability to adapt to new environments and flexibility, among others. During the weeks prior to the start, ProFuturo trainers have been conducting theoretical and practical sessions with the volunteers to reinforce their use of the ProFuturo digital platform and clear up any doubts that may arise in the instruction process to teachers and students.

Enjoy the experience along with these 28 ProFuturo volunteers in Peru and Nicaragua through this website. During the next four weeks, we will let you know how the project is progressing.
