Mathematics ProFuturo: a prominent place in UNESCO’s Digital Learning Week

Our AI-based tool, developed together with IteNlearning, has been bringing mathematics to the most remote places.

On Wednesday 4 September, ProFuturo participated in the Digital Learning Week, a very important event organised by UNESCO, which took place from 2-5 September 2024 in the headquarters in Paris. This meeting brings together leaders, policymakers, researchers and practitioners in the digital education field to explore how technologies can transform education and “reimagine our futures together”.

A panel of experts in digital education

ProFuturo was part of the panel “Promoting Inclusive Access to AI in Low-Tech Settings”, which addressed inclusion and access to artificial intelligence in low-tech contexts. Our Innovation and Product Manager, Mila Tonarelli, exchanged ideas with renowned experts such as:

  • Seiji Isotani (University of São Paulo)
  • Ben Webster (Mosaik)
  • Iñaki Sánchez Ciarrusta (UNICEF)
  • Henri Muurimaa (Eduten)

This international dialogue provided an opportunity to explore the challenges and opportunities of artificial intelligence in education. Despite its rapid progress and significant investments, the importance of reducing the digital and educational gap was highlighted, ensuring technological development that promotes equity.

Since its inception, ProFuturo has been committed to bringing educational technologies to vulnerable environments with little or no Internet connectivity, impacting millions of teachers and students globally. We have developed innovative products and tools that maximise data analytics and artificial intelligence, adapting to the capabilities of each environment.

During this session, we share developed technologies and highlight learnings and solutions to optimise programme implementation. Specifically, we present Mathematics ProFuturo.

What is Mathematics ProFuturo?

Discover the explanation of the tool here:

Mathematics ProFuturo, developed with IteNlearning technology, is an innovative tool that uses artificial intelligence to personalise learning in mathematics. This solution tailors the lessons to the needs of each student, allowing their use even in environments with limited Internet connectivity.

Since its launch in 2022, it has demonstrated an impressive impact:

  • More than 2,300,000 hours worked by students.
  • 16,000 hours of usage by teachers.
  • 4,100,000 interactions between students and the platform.
  • 66,000 students have reached their optimum neurocognitive development.

These figures underscore the effectiveness of the tool in improving the education of thousands of students in vulnerable contexts.

AI for an inclusive future of education

Margarita Álvarez Illescas, Head of the Legal Department together with Manuel José Ruiz García, Manager of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence, also participated in the exchange of knowledge. At ProFuturo, we believe that artificial intelligence, with the right support, can be a transformative tool for education, enabling every student to reach their full potential, regardless of their circumstances.

It was an honour for us to exchange ideas in this international space. We remain committed to transforming education and reducing inequalities in access to quality education!
