We are currently immersed in a public health emergency caused by COVID-19, which represents a challenge for society as a whole. In the light of this state of affairs, we at the ProFuturo digital programme, which is promoted by Telefónica Foundation and “la Caixa” to reduce the education gap in vulnerable environments, wish to show our commitment to and concern for the situation millions of people are experiencing on account of the crisis and the havoc it is wreaking.  We at ProFuturo are mindful of the fact that countries with vulnerable environments are those that most suffer in difficult times. Education has been affected by the health protection measures adopted to avoid the virus spreading more quickly. This greatly impacts on millions of young children who are living in risk situations: children to whom ProFuturo has been fully committed since the start of our activity back in 2016.

Our commitment to reduce the education gap through digital education makes more sense than ever today. Our remote work is done from Spain, providing the necessary technical support and accompaniment to our partners who are working at the schools that use our digital education programme, which works both online and offline in over 30 countries in Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa and Asia.

Companies and institutions must at this moment in time work jointly and strive to act swiftly and responsibly to combat the consequences of this global health emergency.

Education is a universal right. ProFuturo makes available its comprehensive education programme to teachers and students alike, providing them with digital tools to facilitate those in member schools to carry on with both teaching and learning activities as much as possible.

We are working, and will continue to do so with our partners and allies, to contribute to avoiding any worsening of the current education gap in this scenario and to helping millions of children to continue with their education as a key tool to an opportunity filled future.  We are collaborating in the dissemination of prevention measures against pandemic infection in the schools of the over 30 countries in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and Latin America where we operate.
