ProFuturo brings partners from Africa and Asia together in Morocco to drive educational transformation

The Morocco meeting is the second edition of the ProFuturo Regional Meeting held last year in Zimbabwe.

This week, from 7 to 11 October 2024, ProFuturo, the educational innovation programme promoted by Fundación Telefónica and “la Caixa” Foundation, brings together its implementation partners from Africa and Asia in the 2nd Regional Meeting in Fez, Morocco. The main objective of the event is to strengthen collaboration to improve educational opportunities, boost teacher training, and promote innovative practices that contribute to the educational transformation of children, teachers and schools in the vulnerable environments where ProFuturo operates.

The ProFuturo team, together with its implementation partners, reviews the common objectives guiding the work. In these sessions, the progress and results obtained so far are analysed, areas for improvement are identified, and evidence of the programme’s impact in schools is shared. All of this allows for the establishment of new strategies to strengthen the coordination and effectiveness of actions in the most challenging contexts. ProFuturo’s commitment is to continue working to provide quality education to those who need it most.

Participation of key actors in the region

Alongside the BMCE Bank Fondation host team, there are representatives from Save the Children (Tanzania), International Rescue Committee (Tanzania), World Vision (Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leona, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Philippines, Spain), Entreculturas (Malawi), Salesians of Don Bosco (Tanzania), Ayala Foundation (Philippines), Don Bosco Youth Empowerment Organization (Kenya), The Kukah Centre (Nigeria), and UNHCR (Nigeria, Rwanda, Zimbabwe), among other key partners. These partnerships are essential to advance ProFuturo’s mission and enhance the impact of initiatives in the region.

Commitment to educational transformation and the SDGs

The Fez Regional Meeting is a further step in the commitment to transform education in challenging contexts. ProFuturo is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals and the United Nations Global Compact, and through education, technology and innovation, it’s driving to reduce poverty and inequality. Its aim is that access to quality education is key to the development of fairer societies.
