ProFuturo outlines its commitment at the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC)

Magdalena Brier, presented ProFuturo's commitment at the #Partner2Connect Digital Development Roundtable, part of the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC). The aim of the meeting: To advance together the digital transformation for all. 

The Partner2Connect (P2C) Digital Development Roundtable event was held from 7 to 9 June in Kigali (Rwanda) with the participation of Magdalena Brier, the managing director of ProFuturo. The meeting, which lasted 3 days, brought together different speakers, both physically in Kigali (Rwanda) and remotely. 

The panel discussion, which formed part of the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC), was chaired by Naria Santa Lucia, General Manager for Digital Inclusion at Microsoft, serving as a meeting point for different points of view with regard to current-day digital development. 

The gathering provided an opportunity for member States, the private sector, the academic world, civil society, international organisations and other entities to announce their commitments in relation to the Partner2Connect Digital Coalition The goal: to move forward together and achieve a digital transformation for everyone. 

In the high-level roundtable groups, the panellists discussed each of the stakeholders’ needs and commitments and the resources available to them to bridge the digital gap and forge new partnerships to achieve meaningful universal Internet connection.

ProFuturo’s commitment

On Wednesday 8 June, Magdalena Brier, the managing director of ProFuturo, made a detailed presentation of the digital education programme promoted by the Telefónica Foundation and the “La Caixa” Foundation as part of Telefónica’s commitment to the Partner2Connect Digital Coalition. 

According to ProFuturo, the digital element is key to it fulfilling its goals of narrowing the education gap around the world and improving the quality of education in vulnerable environments.

Ms. Brier set out the pillars upon which ProFuturo is based and its undertaking to combine technology with innovative teaching and learning experiences. The programme thus succeeds in narrowing the education gap while reducing the digital gap around the world.

“ProFuturo was created in 2016 and we’re committed to keep on working towards the same goals to contribute to the fulfilment of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”, Brier concluded.
