ProFuturo presents the S.A.T. tool at the educational innovation event IFE Conference

ProFuturo takes part in the IFE Conference, presenting its S.A.T., a tool to monitor the intervention of our education programme and allow for decision-making that improve its impact on schools.

Yesterday, 24 January, ProFuturo participated in the IFE Conference, which was organised by the Institute for the Future of Education of Tecnológico de Monterrey. The event encompasses three days of educational innovation including: keynotes, panels, special events, awards and research papers, among other activities, adding up to more than 350 opportunities to exchange knowledge on developments in EdTech and education.

The International Congress on Educational Innovation, formerly known as CIIETec and now as the IFE Conference, came about in 2006 as a way to annually present the trends and practices in educational innovation that are transforming the sector on a global scale. By connecting world-renowned experts, the aim was to provide resources to improve teaching and learning and to share practices with others.

In this edition, we were invited to participate in the panel “EdTech diagnosis in ProFuturo centres to improve the results of the programme”. The panellists included Valentina Ríos, Director of Strategy at ProFuturo Foundation; María Fernández, Manager of the Tracking and Monitoring System at ProFuturo Foundation; Alejandro Zamora, Head of Digital Education at Telefónica Movistar Mexico Foundation; Mayra Morales, Project Leader at IIDEAC; and José Carlos Vázquez from  Telefónica Peru Foundation

The panel spent some time discussing ProFuturo’s S.A.T. (School Assessment & Transformation Tool), designed to rank the schools where we intervene with our educational programme. The tool makes it possible to categorise schools according to the level of engagement with the programme and to calculate its potential to generate a greater impact on schools.

The platform empowers us to monitor and make decisions to improve our programme”.

The importance of monitoring

Monitoring, understood as the regular follow-up and supervision of the implementation of an activity (UNICEF, 1999), plays a key role in attaining the results of a social intervention programme. Planning for monitoring and evaluation should be part of the overall project planning process, putting in place the necessary systems to ensure that the desired results are achieved.

Some time ago, ProFuturo developed the S.A.T. tool, which uses previously established diagnostic and performance criteria in order to track the progress of our educational programme. The tool collects, generates and processes information from both online and offline sources in the schools where we intervene, with the aim of intensifying and adapting interventions in schools to achieve a digital transformation that meets the goals of improving educational quality established under the guidelines of SDG 4.

Monitoring and assessment are always linked in the development plan of the ProFuturo programme. As time goes on, our aim is to continue fostering learning, knowledge transfer and the sharing of evidence-based experiences or best practices in order to continuously improve the education the world’s children receive.

Taking part in conferences like the IFE continue to nurture us with international experiences, learning and link us with other actors to continue exchanging knowledge in this network of innovators passionate about improving education. We will continue building a community that believes in the transformative power of education, one that is evidence based and monitors itself in order to be better as moves forward.
