ProFuturo has renewed its contract with iteNlearning to continue with the development, deployment and maintenance of Mathematics ProFuturo. A technological tool specially designed for advanced education and aimed at improving mathematical competence in children aged 6 to 12, based on scientific evidence and innovative technologies. This project aims to ensure that students, regardless of their socio-economic background, can access quality mathematics education.
A pedagogical approach focused on international standards
Mathematics ProFuturo has been designed adapting the objectives and contents from 6 to 12 years old, in line with the Common Learning Standards. Activities are available in several languages, including Spanish, English, Portuguese and French. Moreover, given the transversality of teaching models and teaching-learning modes that this technology makes it possible to implement, it is possible to integrate it with existing pedagogical practices to maximise educational effectiveness.
Technological advances for low connectivity environments
From a technological perspective, ProFuturo has worked on the development of an application in two versions: an online version optimised to work on the devices that each school and environment has at its disposal, and an offline version for infrastructures with limited connectivity. Through caching strategies, local data storage and regular updates for offline use, a local network environment has been created that simulates a “connection”. The solution runs on Linux and Windows systems, and is compatible with the various equipment and devices available in schools and countries.
Mathematics ProFuturo is designed to improve learning in a personalised way by linking mathematics, cognitive science and artificial intelligence. With Mathematics ProFuturo, we ensure that the most vulnerable children, in environments with little or no Internet connectivity, also have the opportunity to improve their skills in an interactive and inclusive way. An engaging user experience
Ease of use and an adaptive and responsive design are key elements in Mathematics ProFuturo. The design of the tool ensures that participation and learning effectiveness is optimal, making it an attractive solution for students. Increasing interaction and engagement with the learning experiences it provides, and promoting the reflective, ethical and positive use of technology.
AI-driven learning analytics
A distinctive aspect of Mathematics ProFuturo is its focus on data analysis, which enables informed, evidence-based decision-making. Since the beginning of the programme, information has been collected about the times and patterns of use of teachers and students, as well as information about the learning process and the students’ neurodevelopmental status. This makes it possible to better adapt educational strategies to the reality of each environment and the students’ needs. The aim is to improve both the results and the impact of educational actions and systems, on a personalised basis.
Tailored teaching-learning experiences at 3 levels
Thanks to causality-based Artificial Intelligence (AI), the tool enables the creation of personalised learning experiences in real time, tailored to the unique needs of each learner. This includes three levels of adaptive learning: real-time reinforcement and enhancement, learning sessions based on the student’s memory and learning curves based on previous sessions, and content adjustments according to the detected Neurodevelopmental needs of each student.
Improvement of students’ emotional factors and self-perception
The tool also includes metacognition processes that allow students to reflect on and become more aware of their learning process in order to improve their self-perception. And it promotes more reflective and efficient behaviour, in a transparent manner, to the student.
Ernesto Ferrández, Founder and President of iteNlearning: “I founded iteNlearning 25 years ago with the aim that all people should have the same opportunities, and that, therefore, the school they went to, the place where they were born or the resources they had at their disposal should not condition their future opportunities. When I discovered ProFuturo, I felt that their mission aligned perfectly with what we were trying to do at iteNlearning. And from this shared vision, we started to develop the Mathematics ProFuturo project, based on their specific needs and iteNlearning’s educational approach”
Results achieved to date
Since its launch Mathematics ProFuturo has achieved important milestones:
- It currently works with 1,489 schools.
- More than 16,000 teachers have registered, with over 8,000 currently active.
- More than 417,000 students have registered, of whom more than 195,000 are active.
In the last 12 months, the following have been achieved:
- 2.3 million hours of work by students.
- Teachers have used the platform for 16,000 hours.
- 4.1 million interactions with students have been recorded.
- Students have been helped 12.5 million times to improve their reflective and efficient behaviour.
With this holistic approach, ProFuturo and iteNlearning are committed to transforming mathematics education and reducing inequalities in access to quality education.
