On Sunday 8 October, ProFuturo will organise the second edition of the ProFuturo Race, a sporting event whose proceeds will go entirely to the implementation of educational programmes in developing countries.

With this initiative, the runners will go “further than ever before”, because the goal is to enable 10 million boys and girls in Latin America, Africa and Asia to have access to quality, digital education.

The race will take place on the Avenida de la Ronda de la Communicación in Madrid, and there will be three different races: two for adults and one for children. Participants over 16 years can choose between a distance of 10 km or 3 km.

The main objective of the event is to raise funds so that the ProFuturo educational programme can fulfil its goal of providing a quality educational experience to more than 10 million children in developing countries by 2020 and, thus, close the education gap on a global level. ProFuturo is currently present in 23 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and Southeast Asia.

The first edition was held in 2016 and around 4,000 people took part. As well as amateur runners and participants motivated by solidarity, the event was also attended by various figures from the world of athletics.

Especially notable was the participation of the seven-time champion in the world of Triathlon, silver medallist in London 2012 and Princess of Asturias Award in Sports winner Javier Gómez Noya, who decided to give his support to the race.

About the ProFuturo Race

The ProFuturo Race is being held for the second time in 2017 and its objective is to raise funds for the homonymous Foundation which brings digital education to millions of children in developing countries. The event takes over from the ProNiño Race which was held in the Spanish capital for six years. Every year, different figures from the world of sport have come to the race and given it their support.
