Transforming education with technology

Lùcia Dellagnelo is a psychologist by training, but she soon realised that any process of human development involves understanding and proposing an education that favours it. To develop this understanding, she immediately turned her studies toward education. Today, she directs the Innovation Centre for Brazilian Education, a non-profit association with the aim of supporting the formulation of public policies that promote the culture of innovation in public education in her country. Because as she explains, “we have to think about education in terms of public policies. If we want to create a fairer and more caring society, universal access to these educational opportunities is important.”

Lucia Dellagnelo holds an MA and a Ph.D. in Education from Harvard University. She is currently the director-president of the Centre for Innovation in Brazilian Education-CIEB. She has been a consultant to the World Bank and national and international foundations in education and human development. She was Secretary of State for Sustainable Economic Development of the state of Santa Catarina in Brazil, where she coordinated the development and implementation of public policies in sustainable development, economic development, innovation, education for sustainability, entrepreneurship, and the environment.
