Our Challenge

To ensure a quality education for millions of children living in vulnerable environments, where inequalities in access to educational resources, technology, and teacher training limit their opportunities for learning and development.

ProFuturo contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4), which promotes inclusive, equitable, and quality education for all. In this context, digital transformation offers new opportunities to improve access to education, enrich teaching and learning processes, and strengthen the development of students and teachers.

However, these advances do not reach all settings equally. The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted both the potential of technology to ensure educational continuity and the deep-seated inequalities in access to, use of, and quality of available resources. Added to this are the rapid advances in artificial intelligence, which are expanding the possibilities of digital education and presenting new opportunities and challenges for teachers and students.

The importance of this approach is growing: what we bring into the classroom is education, accompanied by technology designed to adapt to the pace and needs of every child.

Going to school doesn't always mean learning

ProFuturo’s mission is to help improve learning conditions in environments where poverty, lack of connectivity, scarcity of digital resources, and inequalities limit the educational experience of millions of children around the world.

Barriers to Quality Digital Education

The technological revolution in education is already a reality. However, significant barriers remain that limit its impact in the most vulnerable communities. To address these barriers, ProFuturo focuses its efforts on four major challenges:

Learning Poverty and the Digital Divide (Technological and Digital Exclusion)

Shortcomings in Teacher Qualifications and Competence

Limitations in infrastructure, resources, and educational content

Lack of commitment to innovation on the part of schools and educational communities (outdated educational systems)

Learning Poverty

70% of 10-year-old boys and girls in low- and middle-income countries are experiencing learning poverty and are unable to understand a simple text (World Bank, 2022).

The Urgency of Learning

Educational poverty rates are a sign that education systems are failing to ensure that children develop essential basic skills, thereby hindering progress toward SDG 4’s goal of universal quality education by 2030.

The challenge is for digital education to provide more opportunities for learning and development for all children.
