Top 3 articles from the ProFuturo Observatory

From the importance of educational leadership to micro-learning and how technology makes education more human and inclusive.

The ProFuturo Observatory is our space for reflection, research and analysis. Its mission is to provide up-to-date and relevant content about the field of education. Through articles, interviews and trend studies, we offer our teachers, partners and students a place where they can always stay abreast of the latest innovations, tools, trends, opportunities and challenges in the world of education. We use digital tools and AI to identify and evaluate all those emerging topics, improve the accuracy of our approaches, and facilitate the development of educational content that we publish every month in the Observatory section of the website.

This month, we’ve prepared a Top 3 of the most viewed and trendsetting items, so you don’t miss them. Here they are!

1. 2025 GEM Report: The critical role of leadership in education

Educational leadership is a fundamental pillar for the transformation of school systems and society as a whole. This article explores in depth how education leaders, from school management to national policy-making, have a direct impact on the quality of learning and social inclusion. The GEM 2025 Report, published by UNESCO, stresses the importance of strengthening leadership in education so that all children in the world receive a quality and equitable education. Despite the progress that has been made, there are still challenges such as lack of preparation and limited resources to be overcome, which prevents their potential from being fully developed.

2. Learning in small doses: the new trend in teacher training

In a fast-changing world, teachers need to constantly update their skills while remaining focused on their daily work in the classroom. This is where microlearning comes in, an innovative methodology that has become a key tool for educators’ professional development. With short, specific modules that can be completed anytime, anywhere, microlearning allows teachers to acquire key knowledge without compromising their time in the classroom. In addition, the use of technologies such as educational applications, short videos and SMS messages facilitates continuous, flexible and accessible training for all teachers, regardless of their time or context constraints.

Traditional education faces profound challenges in a technology-driven world. However, artificial intelligence is emerging as a disruptive tool, which can redefine and transform the educational landscape. This article looks at how AI can make education more inclusive, personalised, and human, enabling more students, regardless of their context, to have access to quality teaching. During the TELOS 2024 Forum, key figures from the educational and technological fields discussed the impact of AI and how it can help create a more equitable education system, where each student is seen and served according to their needs.
