Education must keep up with the pace in a world in which technology is rapidly advancing. Educational programmes have to be measured to ensure that the strategies that are implemented are generating the desired impact at the required speed. ProFuturo, the educational programme promoted by Fundación Telefónica and the Fundación La Caixa, has provided a faithful example of how continuous evaluation can lead to significant improvements in learning.
This year, on our 8th anniversary, we’ve published the results of the comprehensive 2023 ProFuturo Annual Survey. The data, collected from 245 coaches, 14,700 teachers and 76,300 students, provides a detailed insight into their experiences with the programme. The survey assesses the development of digital and curricular skills, particularly in mathematics, as well as students’ motivation and level of attention.
- Digital and curricular skills. 76% of the teachers have observed a significant improvement in their students’ digital skills, while 73% report progress in their curricular competences. These data are a testament to how the integration of technology into the classroom can significantly enhance learning.
- Reduction of school absenteeism. 91% of the students state that the programme has increased their degree of motivation to attend school. This increased motivation is reflected in a fall in absenteeism, with 83% of the teachers reporting greater attendance.
- Effort, motivation and attention. Technology not only enhances the learning experience, it also increases the levels of effort and attention among the students. A remarkable 95% of the students say they make more of an effort thanks to the programme, while 80% of the teachers have observed improvements in terms of the attention and discipline in class.
- New educational activities. 75% of the teachers say that they’ve modified their educational activities with the technology and digital resources.
With every student driven to attend school and every teacher trained to use the new technologies, ProFuturo can contribute to improving access to future opportunities in the most vulnerable communities.

All the evidence of our impact is reflected in a new story of educational transformation. Since we began in 2016, we’ve trained 1.7 million teachers and reached 4.8 million children. In 2023 alone, we trained 342,000 teachers and reached 1.2 million students. These figures represent more than 6.5 million stories that prove how education can transform, and this is the core mission of our activity.
We remain committed to the learning of thousands of teachers and children, particularly in vulnerable contexts, in which receiving quality education can open up a wide range of options for the future. The above, together with the possibility of using technology as a means to enhance education, is enabling us to build citizens who are empowered to face up to the challenges of the 21st century and make our society ever stronger.
Alongside these transformations, we’ll continue to measure and analyse our impact so as to keep on improving. The numbers don’t lie, and neither do the smiles on our children’s faces.
