Iberia and ProFuturo, the international programme for educational innovation through technology promoted by Fundación Telefónica and the “la Caixa” Foundation, are celebrating the first anniversary of their partnership. During this first year, the airline has facilitated the travel of the programme’s technical teams to various Latin American countries where it operates: Peru, Mexico, Ecuador, Brazil and Chile
This logistical support has enabled the ProFuturo programme to strengthen its on-the-ground monitoring, ensure the correct implementation of activities and gather direct evidence of its impact on the communities in which it works.
Some of the flights provided by Iberia enabled the ProFuturo Monitoring and Evaluation team to visit schools in the field, giving them the opportunity to gather direct evidence and real-life stories about the programme’s impact on educational communities. In Mexico, ProFuturo worked in 195 schools, with 34,500 teachers and 33,000 students, and in Peru in 467 schools, supporting 22,788 teachers and 197,891 students.
During these visits, the team was able to gather testimonies from teachers, school leaders and students; observe in the classroom how technology is transforming teaching and learning dynamics; and gain a first-hand understanding of the challenges and opportunities in each context. These experiences have been key to continuously improving ProFuturo’s educational model and reinforcing its impact on teachers and students in the countries where it operates.
Other trips facilitated by Iberia enabled the Operations team to travel to Ecuador, Chile and Peru to meet with implementing partners and educational institutions in each country. In Ecuador, in 2025, the ProFuturo project was implemented in 114 schools, reaching 1,622 teachers and 28,147 students, and in Chile, in 2025, it was implemented in 53 schools, reaching 290 teachers and 8,240 students.
These technical support visits help to anticipate future needs, adjust the strategy and ensure that the initiative by Fundación Telefónica and the “la Caixa” Foundation continues to respond effectively to the educational challenges in each region. This support has a direct impact on the quality of teaching and on children’s educational opportunities.
In addition to the travel arrangements for the Monitoring and Evaluation teams and the Operations team, Iberia has also supported the trip to Spain (from Brazil) of a member of the jury for the international Hackathon organised by ProFuturo, as well as several global suppliers. These actions have helped to strengthen coordination with key stakeholders, improve the quality of programme delivery and ensure that activities in each country progress effectively and in line with the project’s educational objectives.
