ProFuturo, at the heart of the debate on education
In recent months, ProFuturo has taken part in various high-profile conferences, forums and meetings within the education sector: ranging from the UNESCO World Teachers’ Summit to the 15th Annual Symposium of the mEducation Alliance and the Alliance Member Day, organised by the World Bank, as well as the ADEA Triennale 2025 and the IFE Conference at Tecnológico de Monterrey, alongside events organised by UNHCR and the OECD.
The importance of partnerships
2026 has seen the consolidation of ProFuturo’s partnership with American Tower, a collaboration that last year reached more than 36,000 students, nearly 1,900 teachers and 97 schools, and which this year has resulted in field visits to countries such as Mexico, Peru and Brazil. Furthermore, 2026 has also seen the strengthening of ProFuturo’s partnership with Iberia. In its first year of collaboration, the airline has facilitated the travel of the programme’s technical teams to various Latin American countries in which it operates:Peru, Mexico, Ecuador, Brazil and Chile.
The agreement with Fundación Secretariado Gitano
Last May, Fundación Telefónica and ProFuturo signed an agreement with Fundación Secretariado Gitano in which they set themselves the challenge of providing extracurricular support and training in digital skills for pupils and their families, as well as training for teachers on the Promociona programme and other professionals at the organisation. This collaboration thus continues the strategic partnership they had been developing, aimed at promoting academic success, reducing the digital divide and fostering the labour market inclusion of Roma youth in Spain.
Joining Learning Cabinet
Following a structured evaluation process in line with the EdTech for Good Framework, ProFuturo is now part of Learning Cabinet. Developed by UNICEF, the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Arm and the Asian Development Bank (ADB), in collaboration with international partners, this platform supports governments, multilateral organisations and educational programmes in identifying high-quality digital tools.
The application of AI to education
ProFuturo’s strategy for pedagogical and technological innovation involves developing an integrated and accessible digital ecosystem that maximises educational impact, as well as creating inclusive, personalised and effective learning experiences. As an example of this, the course AI Literacy: Thinking with Machines was launched this year. The course presentation, which was attended by hundreds of teachers from Spain, Brazil, Venezuela, Colombia and Panama, featured Charles Fadel, founder of the Centre for Curriculum Redesign.
Training those who teach
Comprising members from Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya and Nigeria, the ProFuturo trainer hub met in Madrid last April, at a series of sessions designed to continue their training programme, create opportunities to share ideas with the global teamand help strengthen their bonds as the core group within the coaching community. Furthermore, the in-person meeting enabled them to share best practices across operations, with a particular focus on strategic issues such as the roll-out of the new ProFuturo Offline Platform, ProFuturo Maths and the Teacher Self-Assessment Tool.
A new visual identity for new challenges
To mark its tenth anniversary, ProFuturo has this month unveiled its new visual identity, which reflects the programme’s global reach and significance and projects a more contemporary, technological and global image, in line with the programme’s track record and the international scope it has achieved over the past ten years. It also reflects attributes such as innovation, educational leadership, the capacity for transformation and its commitment to creating opportunities through education.
