International hackathon #hack4edu kicks off: an opportunity to transform digital education through artificial intelligence

How will AI be used to improve decision-making in education? What patterns of behaviour will be discovered to drive learning? The answer is about to be revealed, and you can form part of this technological adventure.

This week, from Tuesday 24 to Friday 27 October, the IV edition of #hack4edu, organised by ProFuturo and the Pontifical University of Salamanca, with the collaboration of Telefónica Chairs. This international hackathon, which has become a beacon of innovation focused on addressing technological challenges related to digital education in vulnerable environments, has brought together more than 415 students from 8 countries and 16 universities in Latin America in recent years. But this year, these figures predict a resounding success: the 4th annual #hack4edu will break all records, with 29 universities taking part, more than 50 challenges submitted and some 400 student hackers.

We will tell you about the hackathon minute by minute. You can’t miss any detail!

This year, #hack4edu will focus on artificial intelligence, a powerful tool that has the potential to increase the impact and quality of education. How can we facilitate decision-making and teacher training? What methodologies should be used to analyse large volumes of data? What patterns of behaviour can we detect? How can we optimise investment and increase the effectiveness of educational interventions?

This approach marks a new direction in the commitment to address current-day challenges in digital education and provides a chance to transform the way we approach teaching and learning in vulnerable environments.
