When, on 11 May 1997, a powerful supercomputer defeated the unbeatable chess player Gary Kasparova trail was blazed for the world of artificial intelligence that today, 26 years later, seems to know no bounds. Chess was the first, but, today, they beat us at all games they identify our faces, tell us the quickest route to get from one place to another, tell us what to listen to, watch and read, diagnose illnesses more accurately than a doctor and now, in addition, create images and write stories. Every day, the boundaries of artificial intelligence and data science are blurring and moving “a little further” beyond what was just science fiction a few years ago.
In this interview, Carlos Martínez Miguel, global director of IoT (internet of things), big data and artificial intelligence solutions and services at Telefónica Tech explains, among other things, the relationship between artificial intelligence and data analytics, how to avoid the risks involved in the application of this technology and what role it can play in the future of education.
